Skincare Fair in Lagos

In November I was in Lagos and visited West Africa's largest skincare fair

The fair was very interesting and exciting and I took home new insights both regarding skincare and what life can be like in Africa. The country has great natural resources, including shea butter, which is often used in skincare products.

The hotel I was staying at was in a good part of the city, yet it was fenced in and had guards 24 hours a day. I couldn't move around freely and had to have a "guide" whenever I went outside the hotel.

I got help from Sammy who is actually a trained carpenter and that is what he wants to work as but unfortunately it is difficult to get employment due to widespread nepotism. His dream is to be able to open his own business and for that he needs start-up capital.

His family lost their business and assets when they were forced to leave their hometown in the northern part of the country where Buko Haram terrorizes the population.

As a Swede, coming to such a different society where it is difficult to get by without money gave me food for thought and I thought that maybe there was an opportunity to help.
