What is SHR and why should you check if your dermatologist is a member?
SHR, Swedish Skin Therapists The national organization, which was formed in 1955, is an association of authorized skin therapists in Sweden. It is a nationwide non-profit association without union, religious or political affiliation, which works to raise and maintain the competence and quality level within the skin care profession. SHR is affiliated with the international industry organization CIDESCO, based in Switzerland.
SHR's responsibility is to promote serious and competent professional practice with a sense of responsibility. The focus should be on ethics, quality and the customer's safety and security. SHR is today an important factor for the profession and takes responsibility for both the training of skin therapists and for the safety of the end consumer, as well as for communication to the public and authorities about the work of skin therapists.
SHR issues authorization for its members, which means that we as members are guaranteed solid training and perform professional treatments. We work according to SHR's ethical rules and we have treatment damage insurance.
What does SHR do?
SHR's board works actively with, among other things, educational/further education issues, member services, government work, industry monitoring and marketing.
Every year, SHR organizes several further training courses for its members . As an SHR-affiliated skin therapist, you have the opportunity to take tests to obtain journeyman and master certificates as well as certificates for needle epilation, IPL/laser and specialized skin therapist. In addition, lectures are regularly held on current topics such as laser, sales and dermatology, etc. at both regional and local levels.
SHR is the organizer of the large trade fair "Skin & Cosmetics". The fair features most of the exhibitors in skin care to show the latest in the industry. SHR also publishes a trade magazine "Hudterapeuten" five times a year. It highlights important topics and current events for skin therapists, such as changes in legislation, hygiene regulations and new trends in the profession.
As you can see, SHR works to ensure that your skin therapist is well-trained, knowledgeable about trends and current treatments, and perhaps most importantly, has treatment injury insurance. We are moving towards treatments that are more result-oriented, and with that, the risk of injury that may occur also increases. We want you to be in safe hands.
